A Little Bit About Me
Hi there! I'm Alex, an end-to-end Learning and Development Professional who thrives on solving the toughest learning and content challenges. Working remotely from Charleston, SC, I bring a multidisciplinary approach to instructional design that consistently delivers measurable business impact for my clients.I've been crafting compelling narratives since childhood—from creative stories about homework-eating monsters to multimedia content that captures real-world experiences. This foundation in storytelling, combined with my analytical mindset and communication expertise, naturally evolved into a career solving learning challenges for organizations.
Since 2014, I've partnered with companies across automotive, finance, healthcare, pharmaceutical, publishing, retail, and technology industries to design training solutions that drive performance outcomes. My journey began when I impressed a healthcare technology company with my strong writing and graphic skills, leading them to bring me aboard to develop educational materials for their new training department. Working alongside seasoned instructional designers, I discovered how strategic learning design transforms business results—and I've been passionate about that intersection ever since.
I bring both academic rigor and practical experience to every project. Currently pursuing my Master's in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies at Florida State University, I stay current with emerging research while applying proven methodologies in real-world settings. I regularly engage with the learning design community through professional development sessions, maintain a robust reading practice focused on design psychology and learning science, and experiment with the latest design technologies (especially AI lately).
My Approach to Learning Design
I believe the best learning solutions emerge from understanding both the business challenge and the human experience. My approach centers on collaboration and evidence-based design to ensure every project delivers measurable impact. My Values
Data-Focused: I believe that learning solutions should be based on a cognitive theory of how people learn and scientifically valid research studies.Empathetic Solutions: I put myself in the learner's shoes so that I can empathize with their needs and understand their motivations to deliver the best learning solution possible.
Transformative Daring: I'm not afraid to engage in thoughtful risk-taking to design learning solutions that improve our world dramatically.
